Question

I work in a private residence, my employer is from another country, they do not comply by CA labor law. there is rampant abuse, hostility, threats... I am ask to work on my days off for no extra pay, sometime over 22 hrs a day . because they sometime leave town and consider that I will be off. however they never tell us in advance of their plan, and sometime come back before the date they say they will return . .. and expect us to be there even if it is my day off.   in addition there is a live in staff who are here on B1 visa (business) but they circumvent the law and actually work at this house, the manager is the most abusive, unconcern about labor law, he is the source of all problems and have no problem convincing the boss of his lies , there is a woman here( from their country) who one will describe as a modern day slave sleeps on the floor, works 18 hrs a day for about $ 300.00 a month ) she is being kept against her will .

where is the answer?

Answer

If the empoyer is violating california labor laws, you should report it to the state labor department for review and correction.

while local employment law counsel would be of help, begin with the labor dept.
