Greetings.
What are the specialist you are consulting?
Was a HIDA scan done?
Dr. Arun
I don't think i had an hida scan. right now i see a neurologist, a kidney specialist, an orthopedic for broken wrists and wrist surgery, bladder specialist, i have seen a cardiologist and a lung specialist in the past. sometime around 2003-2004 i experienced a lot of fluid retention at about the same time i dropped about 50 lbs. rather quickly. also around 2004 i developed some swinkage of both my kidneys and now there appears to be some scarring or scar tissue on both kidneys. i have night sweats and i've experienced some muscle wasting and major fatiegue and confusion and memory loss. i have not been able to work since oct. 2000. i am currently on ssi disability.
Hello,
The HIDA scan will identify the gall bladder dyskinesia (decreased functions or no contractility). You multiple system affection points towards (you too mentioned this) immunological phenomenon. The specialist best equipped to deal with this are clinical immunologists or rheumatologist. There are specific blood tests for this and a muscle biopsy (muscle enzymes would be part of the blood work) and / or biopsy of pleura (lung covering), peritoneum (abdominal covering) or any organ should be able to clinch the diagnosis. The treatment is in the form of disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). The response to the treatment usually is excellent. They are not only able to arrest the progression of the disease but also many times can, "Switch Off" the disease process.
Please feel free for your follow up questions.
