Question

If i was originally charged with a felony that fits the criteria for a misdemeanor resulting in a sentence of 30mos. of probation, given credit for 109 days time served, and after court proceedings as documented on current "circuit court of cook county, illinois" certified disposition, the priority status of conviction was converted from a felony into a misdemeanor the same day. First of all is that legal court proceedings, second, accordingly to illinois state law, was my probation was suppose to be abolished, quashed or readjusted due to the change in my conviction status.

Answer

To the first question, the answer is yes. The offense with which you are charged is one that can be reduced to a misdemeanor with the court's permission. It's a good thing, and certainly legal. Second, the court has the right to keep you on probation in a misdemeanor. There is no obligation to terminate probation simply because the charge was reduced. Sometimes that happens, but it is not required. Hope this helps.
