i been having the hicups for the past 6 days now i went to the va and they gave me a medicene called metoclopramide which does not seem to work and ideas.

holding breath all of the old remedies also va gave me oxygen treatment also tried chorpromazine.

Hello,

Metoclopramide also called Reglan is a common and relatively benign drug that is used to treat hiccups. If it has not worked after six days you probably will be prescribed a more potent medication. Some other medications that are used include anti-anxiety pills, however they may have more side effects than Reglan. Also Thorazine has been used to treat hiccups but this also has side effects. There are other more drastic ways to treat hiccups if they persist despite all medications but you have not reach this point yet. These other treatments include nerve blocks which may be required if the hiccups are intractable.
