The power steering pump on my 2003 Mini Cooper has just burnt out literally. The car nearly went on fire with black smoke coming from the engine compartment. I'm told it will need a replacement pump and wiring loom. Is this a common fault?

Hi, yes it will need replaced and yes there does seem to be a problem with them.seems to be alot of complaints about this burning out or going bad.thanks Mike
