Im getting the code p1747 on my 1997 M3.Could you tell me what this is for?It also has code p0601.The car wont run.Thank You

Hi fault p1747 is for the can bus system monitoring. Fault p0601 is a internal fault in the dme (( engine control module )) Looks like you have a wiring issue between the transmission control module and dme or you have a bad dme. Thanks mike

How would you check it?

HI you will have to remove the trans module and dme module and ck all the pins make sure there is no corrosion. Depending on what you find will led you to next step. The other thing is will the scan tool communicate with the trans module. You can try to pin all the wireing on the the car. This type of problem better left for a dealer. As there are test plans we can follow that will help us with the diagnosis path. I dont want you to replace the dmw if not needed. But using the correct test plans will determine that. Mike

Im sorry i forgot to hit accept.I pulled the ecm and cleaned it up and the fuse next to the ecm?cleaned it up removed some corrosion and it is running fine now.Problem is after doing so the tach and mpg and the temp gauge stopped working.Also the AC wont kick on worked fine before.Any thoughts?Thank You

Hi I would double ck the fuses see if any blew. If you had corrosion at the dme. May have internal corrosion and is damged. If all worked before cleaning it reck the pins on dme make none are bent. Try cleaning again and see if something chages again. I am suspecting a bad dme. Mike Thanks
