Question

I have a problem with a Trianco Tristar Optima. The self diagnosis says that the fan is not reaching the required speed - The fan is not turning at all. Volts are reaching PCB but not the fan - its a brand new PCB could this be faulty? is there a way to wire across the PCB straight to the fan without causing damage to the boiler?

Hi this is Michael, the fan is sensing a signal from the PCB, I know you know this, you can wire the fan directly to see if it solves the diag problem, but its dicey, to do this, you must isolate the fan from its supplied wiring.......The fan not reaching speed is detected from a sail switch, that actually turns ON by the force or air placed upon it. The fan needs to be running at proper rpm's before the unit can go thru its ignition process...... You've told me that you have power to the pc board, but not the fan, there is also a fan relay and I believe its on the board.......It is energized by the thermostat. then passes power to the fan
