Answer

If you cannot pay the credit card bill they really cannot go after your house, unless the bill is substantially close to the value of the home and the home is paid for. They can sue and obtain a judgment and file a lien against the home, but generally your residence is protected from seizure from small credit debts. If you owe a substantial amount on your mortgage, the only way for them to get your house is to pay off the mortgage and force a sale and they would recover the excess only, but courts are not very quick in allowing this. Generally, the credit card companies will work with you to arrange a payment amount you can afford and as long as you are working with them and paying something most will not sue.
