Hi XXXXXXX,

The first thing to check is your inertia switch. This is located in the passenger cowl area, just forward the R/F door. This may have been tripped during install. If this is set, check the power on both sides of the switch.(If not, push the button in until you here it click.)You should get 12V for the first two seconds the key is cycled on.If the pcm doesn't see an rpm signal,it will shut the power off to keep from flooding the engine.

Checking for power at the inertia switch cuts the electrical part of the fuel system in half.If you have power then you need to go back to the tank and check for power at the PK/BK wire when the key is cycled on.If 12V then check black ground wire for continuity to frame. If both are good, pump is bad.

If no power at the inertia switch, back the system up to the fuel pump relay. This relay is located in the battery junction fuse box.If you look into the box, there are six bigger relays.Calling these three the top of the box,the fuel pump relay is the relay on the right side.Remove this relay and switch it with one from the next row. Before you put it in,have someone cycle the key for you and check for power at two of the connections. Remember that the truck will cycle power off after 2-3 seconds. If you get power on pin number 30 and 86,install the swapped relay and try to crank it,check for fuel.

If no power at pin #30,check fuse #17 30A, This is the fuel pump power fuse.If no power at pin #86,check the PCM power relay. It is the relay located just below the fuel pump relay in the second row.At pin #30 and 86 for power. If #30 is missing 12V check fuse #9 30A in the battery junction box. If #86 is missing 12V check fuse #8 of the instrument panel fuse box.If any fuse or relay fails test, replace.

The next check will be ground #101 located on R/H radiator support. It should zero ohms resistance. If not,clean/replace and retest.

These checks should have narrowed down the concern. If not send me what you got and we can go from there.

To check a relay, apply 12V to pin#86 and ground to pin#85,the unit should click.Apply an ohm meter to pin#30 to pin#87,resistance should be zero or less than 0.03 ohms.

The fuel related vacuum switching valve, are you talking about a small round valve that is on the fuel rail and has a vacuum line attached to it? If you are, this is the fuel rail pressure regulator. If the vacuum line is off,it will give you full rail pressure. This will not keep you from getting fuel.If this is correct, let me know and I will try to send a vacuum circuit diagram.

I hope I answered your question(s). If not or it is not clear, drop me a line and I will get back to you as soon as possible.I will try to answer it at lunch tomorrow.

Good hunting,Chuck

the vacuum switching valve is a large plastic unit on the drivers side inside of the cowl, had and electrical connection a mail vacuum line going to the charcoal unit, another large vacuum line that splits off to 2 lines and a small line that goes to the vavuum relay rack on the valve cover
i need to know where the large line that splits into 2 lines goes

Ok,here is what I was able to get outside the repair manuals. These are pictures I was able to find in an electronic parts catalog. Look at them and let me know if they look like what we are try to find. The very last page has a two port outlet on the picture with the intake manifold.Let me know and then we can get you the proper schematic.Thanks,Chuck.
