Question

On Nov.13th 08 I had a flu shot from a local drug store, the shot spot has never been sore but within 2 days a could not lift my arm without alot of pain in the arm between the shoulder & elbow. I ask the pharmacist about it , he said his wife had the same problem for about a week. 2 1/2 wks later I thought it was getting well, I even told the pharmacist it was. About 3 days later the pain is back more so in my shoulder. Could this have triggerd my mild case of rheumatoid or the osteoarthritis?

Is the pain that is in your shoulder reproducible when you move the shoulder itself (like throwing a ball)?

Or how about if you use your other hand and press into the muscle around the shoulder?

Does this pain radiate from the neck, or into the rest of the arm?

Sorry for the delay.

From what you're describing, it sounds like osteoarthritis in the joint, as it is worse in the morning, and improves with use during the day. Also the fact that the pain hurts with movement of the shoulder seems to point toward joint issues.

It would also be unusual for injection related pains to be present three weeks after your injection. And the actual injection probably didn't aggravate the arthritis, it is probably a coincidence, since the injection itself only goes a couple of centimeters into the muscle of the arm (not near any nerves or the joint of the shoulder).
