My friend is going thru a nasty divorce in West Virginia where she left and moved away under the advice of child protection services in West Virginia. She had been in an abusive relationship for 14 years to her and her children. Her husband had been reported for abuse to the children several times and nothing ever came of it and the last ime she was told to get away from him or she could risk getting them taken away from her also. She moved to florida a year and a half ago and filed a protective order against her husband for her and her kids. Her husband didn't appear for the hearing and she was granted the protective order effective for three years. Since then the courts in West Virginia have granted her husband unsupervised visitation. A guardian ad litem was appointed and is recommending her husband get cutody based on the fact they she took his word on him saying he was the primary care giver the last year they lived together.
