Question

I was accused or perpetrating fraud about a month and a half ago by my manager at my job. About 2 weeks after the accusation a HR rep contacted me for a meeting with my manager. When I got to the meeting the HR rep asked if I knew what was going on and I told her no since no one ever actual told me what was going on. I stated to her that I had been informed that I was being accused of conducting a fraudulent action. When I said that my manager spoke up and told me that no it was fraud after all that it was violation of a policy that the bank has. Asked what the violation was and I was told that it was the fact that I had perform a maintenance on a personal account and that I am not suppose to do that. I was told that this meeting was a fact finding meeting and they had to review the results and then let me know. That was 2 weeks ago and I have not be told anything since then. I feel this is harassment. Do I have any recourse? Thank you

I have been asking for a response but they will not provide one. They continue to tell me they are still investigating it. It has been over a month that I have had to live with the threat of being fired.

Answer

Unless the decision violates company policy or is based on your race, gender or age, the employer has discretion to pursue it as it wishes and is under no deadline.
