Answer

Hello, to answer your question on the half shafts, yes, they just pop out of the side housing of the trans, differential. There is a small C clip that is built onto the axle on the flange end where the splines are that holds it in place. Normally once you have the hub loose and the lower control arm out of the way if it inter fears, all you need to do is to insert a pry bar between the tripod or CV end of the axle and the housing where it goes in and give it a pop with the pry bar and they just pop out. Once in a while you will get one that is stubborn because of corrosion or rust or something similar and on those you need to pop it a little harder. Some get so bad that you end up using a bar and a hammer to punch them out with, just a matter of getting a good angle on the tripod end of the axle and swinging room for the hammer. Just be sure to put the driving tool on the end of the axle housing and not of the trans or differential housing, so you don't end up breaking something. If it gets too bad, they do make a slide hammer type of tool that has an end that fits around the tripod joint that will pull just about any stubborn axle, you may be able to rent one from a good parts store. It has a flat adapter on the end that fits around the joint. Thanks
