i hav a 98 cadillac sls that is hard to shift into gear in cold weather. i think its a common problem.. whats wrong? and how do i fix it please

nothing.. i just sit and let car warm up..wen it gets halfway warm it will go in gear.

Your shift cable is getting bad and will need to be replaced.

how does the cold weather affect the shift cable??

The plastic cable housing shrinks in cold weather just like everything else and rubs on the steel part of the cable.

interesting.. hav you heard of this happening on other cadillacs ?? it seems to be uniqe to the sls and sts models..

It happens to almost every car, chrysler 300's , intrepids, lhs are also known for this problem.
