Thanks for the question.

Butalbital also known as fioricet has butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine.

Butalbital with codeine is the same only with codeine in it which is an opiate pain reliever.

i knew that much does the one without codeine really work

For headaches? Yes, absolutely. As a matter of fact I sometimes think it works better as there is a lower risk for rebound headache with butalbital without codeine. So yes, it does work but I guess it also depends on type of headache and the person.
