Info Request

Hi XXXXXX,

Thanks for the question.

I need to ask a couple of questions first.

How old are you?

How do you know you have blood clots in your legs?

Is it in both legs?

Any pain or discomfort in your legs?

Any swelling or color changes in legs?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Sarah

Answer

Blood clots don't usually appear as little red marks. The typical symptoms are swelling in the leg, pain especially when bending the foot it an upright flexed motion, warm to the touch, and possibly a bluish color to the leg. That being said a lot of people don't have any symptoms at all.

Yes, it's true you shouldn't smoke and take birthcontrol, especially over 35. You have some symptoms of possible blood clots. If there is a clot than the answer is yes you should worry as this can be life threatening. As there is no way to know for sure without seeing you in person I would recommend you see your doctor for a follow up as soon as possible. If your symptoms become worse or more painful you need to go to the ER.

Let me know if you have more questions.
