Question
I am a medical doctor licensed in the state of Arkansas and in Texas. There was a complaint lodged against me to the Arkansas State medical board on an incident which happend in June 2008. I read a CT scan on a patient correctly and called the referring doctor. That doctor is saying that he was not notified. The patient did well. The patient's wife unable to file a malpractice suit took this to the Arkansas State Medical board. After a few months of going back and forth, they issued a subpoena for me to attend the next meeting of the board. I am no in Texas and have been since July 2008. The question is that now I am out of state can they compel me to attend this board meeting. I have patients to attend to here in Texas and associated duties.

can you tell me; typically a subpoena is issued by an attorney or a judge. Who issued the subpoena and is it for a court function or for a function of the medical board?
Can you read the subpoena and let me know the caption and who signed it and in what capacity?
