Question

Larry - I have found that the sending unit is OK on a '99 RX300. What are the other more likely issues that can cause the fuel gauge to read zero (with full tank of gas). All fuses seem ok.

Answer

If you physically checked the fuel sending unit by attaching the sending unit's leads to an ohmmeter, and watched the resistance value change as you raised and lowered the float from empty to full and back again, and the resistance changed smoothly and evenly (no drop outs or dead pots), then yes the sending unit is ok.

The fault has to be in the wiring between the fuel sender and gauge, or the fuel gauge itself.
