i have a 2003 ls 430 the steering wheel got stuck in the up position about a month ago for a day? Now it happened again and will not come down I have tried the toggle no luck? It usually automatically comes down when you put it in drive no luck? Thanks for any input

Hello and thank you for using just answer. Does the steering column make a squeek or hum/bindng noise when moving? When the steering wheel gets stuck does the motor make any noises if you try to move it or just no response? THanks

it will telescope up and down no noises smooth it just wont tilt seems like no power to it? It said in the manual there is a deactivation system that will lock the auto tilt? But it won't tilt at all/

Thank you for the reply. I have dealt with a variety of issues regarding the tilt and telescoping steering wheel on this car. THere are several known/common issues regarding the telescope feature but not any on the tilt issue that you are experiencing. I have found that the high voltage tilt motors will sometimes internally short and get "stuck" as you stated, there is a thermal limit switch inside this motor that locks out operation if it trips. This is an intrmittent issue you describe and the frustrating thing here will be that it needs to be tested when the condition actually occurs, the first thing to check is for power/ground at the motor connector when this happens. Most common issue on this concern is a simple motor replacement need.
