Question

Hi, I was wondering what this was. about a week ago I had redness in my vagina area, right above the clit and on the inner part of my lips. Then I have a watery white discharge coming out with a foul odor from my vagina, the discharge is watery but whitish yellow. I went to the doctors and they said it wasnt BV. But they really didnt seems concern well, now it has gotten worse, After the itchyness a couple little white bumps appeared and they are painless. But I itch like crazy, not in the inside of the vagina but around the opening up top like the fold part on the very top. Im so worried and the doc didnt seem concern maybe because she didnt see the white bumps. Now they are there and My discharge seems to be pusing out to the top by my clit. Please help!!

Answer

XXXXXXXXXXX,

When working up a sexual transmitted disease your physician should ask these questions:

  • Any new sexual partner(s)
  • History of multiple sexual partners
  • History of genital ulceration (which can increase the risk of HIV acquisition)
  • History of sexual intercourse with trauma (which can increase the risk of acquisition of hepatitis B or C)
  • Types of sexual exposures ( anal and/or oral)
  • Frequency of condom use
  • Any abdominal pain
  • Hygienic practices

This should be followed by a vaginal exam - with a speculum and with two hands; multiple cultures, microscopic exam of the discharge and a urine analysis.

If these were not done for you then you must return to another doctor. I specifically recommend a Gynecologist. These physicians are easy to find in private practice and in any public health clinic. The proper diagnosis is very important.

I hope this answer helps you.
