This problem started during the summer when the AC was being used. Now that the cooler weather is here and I'm only using the heat this problem still exist when turning the blower switch on. The vehicle has 125K on the clock. No ck engine lites and is running ok except for this miss at idle and the 200-300 RPM surge when warming up.I hope this info helps. Thanks!

Answer

The hvac system in that car is for the most part very self contained, I would examine the ground to the system it is an 14 guage wire, it's black with a violet tracer, It connects to the back of the heater control switch in the dash panel. I would check the resistance of the wire. Let me know what you find.

Pulled it apart and found the grd wire you spoke about.I and the connector appeared in good shape. Unfortunately all but 6inches disappeared into the dash wire harness. I checked the wire to that point and it ohm'd ok. Any idea where the other end of this wire ends at? Unfortunately auto elect isn't one of my strong suites. Thanks

It's in the connector, lower right hand kick panel lower right hand corner. Here is a picture for you.

O.k. we have ruled out that it may be a ground issue, you have now checked that. Please just for verification, can you make absolutely sure that the engine misfire is unrelated to compressor engagement before we continue any further.

Hi I found out that the AC Compressor was cycling during the defrost operation. With the added drag of the compressor operation at low RPM loading down the engine I looked at the IAC Sensor in the throttle body and associated passages.I serviced the throttle body and cleaned the IAC sensor/passage and the problem went totally away. Thanks for your help
