Question

Hi, For over a month there has been a mucus like liquid extrementing from my anus. It has gotten worse over time will irritation, itching and annoyance. I looked it up on web md, and it seems to be rectal prolapse. I was wondering if that sounds like what it is, and if so, will changing to a high-fiber diet be the cure?

Greetings.

The cause of mucus like liquid from the anus may be due to various reasons like infection, hemorrhoids, prolapse, inflammatory bowel disease etc. You can try high fibre diet, it can help to relieve some symptoms. You need to do a simple stool examination to exclude any infection first. If necessary doctor may order other investigations to confirm the diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Thanks alot. What is a simple stool examination that I would need to do? Do I NEED to see a doctor?

You need to see doctor to get an examination & stool test done? This test will exclude any infection or blood in your stool.
