Hello XXXXXXXX,
Your power windows are connected with a circuit breaker.Use a 12 volt test lamp & make sure the circuit breaker in the rear has voltage on both sides .Here is a brief description of circuit operation.Pay close attention to electrical connecting surfaces & loose wiring connectors.
Each door module has a separate battery positive voltage circuit that it uses exclusively for power window motor operation. These circuits are associated with door module harness connectors C1, and, although the circuits are separate, they are connected within the rear fuse block where all are fed by the same PWR WDO circuit breaker. If this circuit opens at a point where the separate branches are all connected, all power windows will be inoperative. A short to ground anywhere in the circuit will open the PWR WDO circuit breaker, which will also cause all power windows to be inoperative. These circuits must not be confused with the battery positive voltage circuits associated with door module harness connectors C3.
I am just a woman trying to fix this myself. not afraid of the work, but lost you when you said to use a 12 volt test lamp. I don't have one but will go buy one...... If you can picture what I am looking at, the item that is marked in the book and the one in the box is a
thing that resembles a rectangular silver, about 1 inch by 1/2 inch and sits there like a battery....if that makes sense....can't I just pull this out and go buy a new one and fix the problem?????
Ok. I can relate this to the CB in my house....understand now....thanks...however, how do I find the fuse that is bad? The manual does not show a fuse for the windows, only the CB. So, if I understand this, if I find the fuse that is causing the short, I replace the fuse and go back to the CB and flip the CB switch, like I do on the CB in the house. Right?? Is this why I need the 12 volt test lamp?
Thank you so much the "education...." on this. I will let you know if I can fix the problem. I did have a new cell phone charger plugged in to the lighter plug but the charger never did work, it didn't charge.....I am guessing this may have been the culprit that blew my fuses.....again, this is such a great service you do...truely earned your bucks here...thanks again
I already did the accept on 11-17-08...
The process or solution given to me did not work or solve the problem but I did accept the charge....thanks for your help
