Question

i took my 07 1700 yamaha siliverado to the shop for a vibration. it was like the vibration of a 500cc two stroke suzuki or worse. the shop said thay found that there was two much oil in crankcase and oil in the air cleaner. when i ask how does that caus a vibration i was told that i had a sticking valve. so i ask how does a bike with only 2500 miles have valve problems. i was told that the excess oil was causing carbon build up on the valves. what is your opinion? chuck d   tampa fla.

Answer

your phone number comes up as X's. i dont think i can call you per the rules of just answer. a few more questions here, does it have aftermarket ex. on it. does it vibe in nuetral, is the vibe rpm sensitive?

hardly noticable in nuteral but when crusing at 60 mph it feels like bees in handlebars and floorboards

Accepted Answer

if it were a problem in the engine w/the crak shaft or pistons it would vibrate in nuetral. and the same with the clutch it would vibrate in nuetral becuase the clutch basket is spinning with engine rpm. I would say your problem lies in the front wheel, either with balance issues or loose spokes. check your tire tread for uneven wear. the engine is not balanced with a counterbalancer and has inherent vibration built in.
