Question

I am a foster parent in texas My wife and I have been fosteriting for ten + years. We had a young man, 13 yo, in our home for three years and had consented to adopting him.Recently he was pulled out wiht no notice and CPS will not return my calls or return my request to talk vis certified mail. We have no idea what transpired to remove him with no notice. We were shocked and although we feel the agency sponsering us "The Texas Mentors" on purpous relayed incorrect infomaiton them. We can not prove it or corrrect it. We went for two years with no home study and the staffing was completed to go through with the adoption.

Since CPS will not talk to us and we have no idea why he wasa taken out we want answers and the child back to be adopted. We have thought about a motion to intervien to get the judge to hear us. We are contacting the Texas Foster Parents association to start their process to help us.

We are looking for a attorney that is local and can help if we need them and what the cost will be. It is much more involved that I can explain here.

I'm sorry we aren't allowed to contact you directly, only through this website.

I'd suggest you call Lin McCraw there in McKinney. He is a great trial lawyer, although I don't know if he takes family cases any more. one of the other lawyers in his office will if he doesn't.

You can either intervene in any suit that is pending or, if no suit is pending, file a Petition for Adoption in a new case. The parents rights have to be terminated if that hasn't been done already.

Thank you for allowing me to assist you. I believe I have answered all of the questions you asked so I would request that you please click the ACCEPT button so I receive credit for my work and leave feedback if you have a chance. Please consider clicking "BONUS" as a nice way of saying "thanks" for a job well done, although this is neither required nor expected. Please remember that we can only base our answers on the information you provide and sometimes a misunderstanding as to what you are looking for or already know occurs so feel free to ask additional questions. Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information and no attorney client relationship has been formed. You should always contact a local attorney for legal advice.

Several customers have asked how they direct a question to me in particular. If you specifically want me to provide information for you just put “FOR TEXAS ATTY” in the subject line and I will pick up the next time I am online.
