Optional Information

Brooklyn, New York

Already Tried:
I sold my car wich is seized for possible forfeture for DWI since i am not going to claim it, but person who bought it, properly registered it with NYS DMV and awaiting for the title under his name in the mail, unable to get it relised by NYPD's property clerk . They refused and say it was illegal to sell it at the time of seizure

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately you or who ever purchases the car will have to then pay the impound fees assuming the police will release the car as long as it's not needed as evidence. If the car is not evidence the police will require the payment of all fees before releasing the car.

Payment of all fees not the issue they refuse to reliese it to anybody but me! They do not recognise him as a new owner!

Answer

If they refuse to recognize him as the new owner then you will have to wait until the new title arrives as proof and if they still refuse you will have to go to the judge who handled your case or any other judge within the court to obtain a release of property order. I'm sorry but I have seen this happen before when the police wish to auction off the car instead of return it.
