Optional Information

2000 Chevrolet S-10 BLAZER 4.3 VORTEC

Already Tried:
REPLACED O2 SENSOR, FUEL PRESSURE IS 50LBS, NEW CAP / ROTOR, FUEL INJECTOR SPIDER REPLACED, AIR BREATHER COVER

Accepted Answer

Hello just checked the specs for the vortec engine and key on engine off fuel pressure fro that motor should be 60 - 66 psi . If it starts you are lucky because we see slot of them that wont start with 50 psi when it cools off. You definitely have a fuel pressure problem.

It does this when it's hot or cold...I have looked online to check prices for a new fuel pump and have seen some that were just the pump instead of the whole assembly. Is it possible to just change the pump, or do I have to change the whole unit ??? Are there any other parts that I should change when I replace the pump ( clamps, hoses, harness, etc, ) ???

what should the fuel pressure be ???

Answer

pressure should be 60-66 key on and around 60 psi idling. If you replace the pump youcan just do the pump but you should check all the wiring connections on the module for signs of corrosion and overheating. Gm pumps are prone to connection problems. It is also smart to replace the fuel filter when you do a pump. You will need fuel line disconnect tools to get the lines of of the module but these are available at local parts stores cheap. Good luck and good feedback is appreciated

the fuel pressure is fine to the point it can be checked which is before the fuel regulator... it just seems like it has no power on acceleration and like I said if you take off immediately after starting it bogs like your out of gas...found out from previous owner that pump and filter were recently replaced, so there should be no issues with that... It doesn't get codes for miss fire but it feels like it is...

Are you sure it's not a plug wire or plug that is cracked?

the plugs / wires / cap / and distributor were replaced two weeks ago, and the truck runs good... The problem and question is about the cutting out when you step on the gas on the initial take off ( hot or cold engine ), and feels weak with power when accelerating...

Do you have access to a vacuum gage? You may have catalytic converter plugging up.

If you could hook it up to a vacuum source on the intake and snap the throttle to wide open , cold and see what it does this may help diagnois. If it is a plugged convertor the only way to know for sure is a backpressure test, but his test will help. Try the vacuum gauge and let me know
