Question

I bruise easily and hardly ever remember where my bruises come from. I kind of worry about them and wonder what would cause such bruising. My most recent bruise happened when I hit my ankle on a store shelf. I would've thought the bruise would only be about an inch or a little more. The bruise wrapped around my whole ankle, turned black and blue and was swollen. It looked like I had twisted my ankle or something. What would be the cause of this?

I have talked to a couple of different doctors who just blow it off and don't really give me an answer.

Hello,   It looks that this injury was of moderate degree.Because a bruise generally occurs when small vessels broken in the tissue that may be either bony or soft tissue like the ligaments.In this case i will advice you to have a x ray of your ankle to rule out for any bony injury because it is better to have it early.Till then you should do RICE(REST,ICE,COMPRESSION WITH SOFT BANDAGE,& ELEVATION OF THE LIMB).Regarding your problem of frequent bruise ,if it is occurring without any trauma then i will advice you to consult an expert hematologist who will advice some investigation to rule out for any deficiency in clotting factors or any abnormality regarding your blood cells & that will decide your treatment.
