Hi XXXXXXX, and thanks for using JustAnswer.com
Your problem is most likey a bad ground for the ignitor. Clean corrosion from the area the ignitor clips onto and be sure the clips are free of corrosion as well. If the ignitor is grounded at the front panel, make sure the panel to body connections are clear of corrosion as well. If the unit is old and corrosion is everywhere with a new orifice, you can run a ground wire from the new orifice to the ignitor ground at the front panel.

Answer

another possibility for poor ignition is the gas trap the ignitor mounts in. You replacement orifice may have a trap that does not hold your original ignitor tight enough to ground well, or may position the ignitor too high in the trap. Also the trap catches not only gas but, grease and cinder that falls from the grate. It must be clean to work properly.
