The "F" symbol is indicating a fault in some part of the electronic systems and the only way to find out what that is, is to have the car hooked up to a diagnostic machine to read the cars computer and see what the fault ( F ) is.

On occasion I have seen flat batteries cause such faults - so it just may be worth checking to see that the battery is charged fully - test your headlights, wipers and suc - and if they look to operate very dim/slow, then try a jump start - or another battery - if all looks ok, it won;t be that.

It really could be anything from a fault in any one of the sensors, drivers, actuators , coil packs or ecu (computer) itself - but the diagnostic will find it quickly and efficiently without wasting time and money on it.

A Vauxhall dealer will obviosly have the equipment needed but some smaller garages do too nowadays so it may well be worth ringing round to see..

But that is the way forward on this one...
