Question

I'm trying to replace the multifunction switch on a 01 Chevy Impala. I got the screws out and got the covers split apart but the tilt wheel lever won't allow me to get the covers off. How do you get tilt wheel lever out of the way to get to the switch?

Already Tried:
Took screws out of steering column covers. Tried to pull tilt wheel lever out but didn't want to chance of breaking it, so I left it alone.

Answer

Hello XXXXXXXXXXX. Here is the procedure. Basically, wiggle and pull and it will pop off.

You sure? I tried that but it won't budge.

Accepted Answer

The could be very stubborn, and I have abandoned removing it, in favor of working around it as well at times. It truly pulls out, but it is plastic, snapping into plastic, so don't apply too much force, smaller wiggles will be safer than large prying.
