I have a 1988 325 and I am tring to replace the Drivers door check Strap. There seems to be a second steel panel inside the door that is in the way of putting the door check in from the inside of the door as is nessasary. How do I get it in?

Already Tried:
I had the door panel off and there is another steel plate
in the way between the front steel part of the door where the door check bolts in and the front window guide. Do I have to remove more parts or remove the door from the car?

Answer

Just unbolt it and remove it. I believe one of the bolts comes from the bottom edge of the door. Look up from underneath. A round black plastic cover. Once you remove this the plate will pivot somewhat. and you can locate the other bolt. Thanks, and please press Accept if I have helped.
