I have 2000 540i 6 spd with 82K miles. DSC, ABS, Brake light come on (started just DSC). Speedomter, tach and temp gauges sometimes go dead as well. Started two days ago. Car seems to run fine. Dealer says need new DSC Controller. Quoted me 3K! What about DSC repair kit ~$750 + labor or rebuild option (www.modulemasters.com for ~$300)? Drove slowly through big pile of leaves morning it started, any correlation or things I should check first? Car is my baby so don't want to be penny wise pound foolish but $3K is a HUGE nut that I do not have right now. Any guidance much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Bob, I'd get a second opinion. We've never had to replace an entire controller. Why aren't they offering you the repair kit option? You can go to www.boschservice.com and locate a Bosch Car Service Center in your area that specializes on BMW. I've never used modulemasters so I can't comment on them. I'd stick with the OEM part.
