i know that most people tell you not to due to expence, BUT i would go to the main dealer my freind has one and his needed a full softwere upgrade and it only cost him £43.99 to be sorted and updated with all new 2008 maps too so i would recomend going to the main dealer as they know the most about your car ..

Thanks for your answer but going to the main dealer would be what I would do if I couldn't find another option - which is why I tried your service! I am surprised it cost your friend so little as the upgrade disk for the maps is £90 and they charge £85 per hour at my local dealer.
I would like a second opinion, preferably from a BMW specialist, as your answer didn't cover the cause of my specific problem or the nature of a solution to it.
