Question

My 1988 325i convertible "surges" in park or while stopped at a red light. The engine revs intermittently. I changed the idle control valve (bought a used one) but theproblem is still there. Seems the whole idle is off and the engine is very noisy. Thank you

Hello XXXXXXXXX, There are a few things to check for your issue. Check the throttle switch for operation. If the throttle switch does not work than the valve will not work correctly. Another issue may be you have a vacuum leak. One other is to check the wires that go to the valve itself for damage. Let me know your findings. Thanks
