Question

I have a2001 S10 Blazer 4WD 4.3 118,000 miles that lacks power and Pings under load. Had codes for mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensor,changed both no help. had codes for random miss fire and egr valve. replaced egr valve. no change. Still have codes for PO45 egr valve, PO300 miss fire and PO452 EVAP, Fuel tank presure sensor low input. Runs fine until under heavy load except surges at constant throttle and pings under heavy load, No power.   HELP

Hello XXXXXXXX,

 

A problem like this sounds like it could a restricted exhaust system & it is usually the catalytic converter.Remove an engine 0/2 sensor & install a pressure gauge.At 1500-2000 there should be no more than 1&1/2 psi back pressure.

A fuel system test is also a good idea.The pressure should be 60-66 psi & holding for at least 4 minutes.These vehicles are bad about fuel pumps failing & fuel pressure regulators leaking.If the fuel pressure does not hold ,keep this in mind,it can be a fuel pump or a pressure regulator leaking.
