Question

Hi, I have a 18 month old Basset Hound, who all of a sudden after a nap and being in the house all afternoon started to eat thing's off of my kithen floor, the carpet, pine needles outside which she never does and was very anxious and going a million miles an hour. We took her to our vet, he seemed to think she had a toxic reaction from something. She was inside with me all day & I keep a good watch on her at all times. I know she didn't get into anything untill we went outside and she started eating pine needles(which I know are toxic) but this all began before that! He gave her several shots and pills to bring home to take, but every time we go outside she starts at the pine needles again. Any answer's?? Thank you, X. X. XXXXXXXXXX, CA.

Answer

I agree that it does sound like a toxic reaction. It really sounds like she might have found some medication dropped in the floor or something along those lines. Some toxins take about 48 hours to clear the system, so hopefully the odd behavior will be eliminated when it clears her system.
