Answer

A few things could be causing this. If she is not on heartworm prevention, she may have heartworms. This can be checked with a quick blood test by your vet to see if this is the case.

Aspirin can sometimes cause stomach ulcers, so this might be the cause as well. Usually they are uncomfortable with a stomach ulcer as well.

These would be the two most common things and both of these would require some treatment from your vet.

Please let me know if you have more questions,

what could I do at home temporly In new here dont have a vet and she has her 3 yr shots

Posted by Dr. Debbie 385 days and 2 hours ago.

Answer

There is nothing you can do at home if it is heartworms. That test is usually just a $30 test you could get at any clinic.

If it is ulcers, you need a prescription called sucralfate. You should discontinue the aspirin and you can give her Pepcid AC over the counter 1 and 1/2 tablet twice daily.

what is a symtom of heartr worms

Posted by Dr. Debbie 385 days and 1 hours ago.

Answer

Initially coughing, then exercise intolerance, fluid buildup in the lungs or belly if it is advanced; coughing with blood is usually due to an embolism and is a very bad sign.
