Well I suppose one can always ask, but there is no requirement that a lender grant an extension simply because one is in a federal disaster area. Many banks will grant such extensions in certain cases. For example, after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf coast a few years ago, most major banks granted loan deferments of several months on payments. Often banks will try to work with lenders in a disaster area to help those with specific needs brought about by the disaster. But this is not automatic and not required by law.
