When my 2004 BMW 530i reaches 1500 to 1700 rpms, there is a disturbing noise much like one would hear if you were blowing air over a soda bottle...almost a whirring type noise. When you back off of the pedal, it dies down and reappears when you accelerate. Not that noticable over 2500 rpms.

Optional Information:
2004 BMW

Already Tried:
BMW said they could not find it..the whirring or howling noise at 1500 to 1700 rpms...which fluctuates with the accelerator pressed down or back up. My thought is that the BMW delaership may not want to do the repair (in an extended warranty), or are not delving into the problem to get the answer. This is not normal, particularly for a BMW 5 series. The 2004 530i has about 60K Miles with a new power steering unit and a new remanufactured transmission...all from BMW.

Hello and welcome to Just answer.com, Super mechanic here. About your vehicle.

There has been a service bulletin issued for that type of concern. Here is what it states.

Service Measure

Fuel Supply Systems
B16 200 04
2/4/2004

Subject
Humming/buzzing noise from center dash area when accelerator is depressed.

Model
E60 5 Series with the M54 engine.

Cause
Fuel line positioned too close to B+ bracket on left side of shock tower. Under acceleration when the engine achieves 1000 to 1500 rpm's, the fuel line vibrates against the bracket causing a buzzing noise which is amplified by the body.

Measure
Gently reposition the fuel line away from the B+ bracket to ensure that a minimum clearance of 10 mm is maintained. If noticeable chafing has occurred to the fuel line, a small section of rubber fuel line can be fitted around the affected area to further protect it.

I am not so sure if this is a buzzing noise, but I will accept your response on this. I know I did not have it on this pre-certified 2004 530i when I purchased it with 16,000 miles on it.
