Question

I am owed 8250.00 in payroll wages, I have filed a claim with the state of conn but they seem to be dragging there feet,can I sue my employer for the money, civil suit?? or does this have to go thru labor board, can I have him arrested now??

Already Tried:
I have contacted the state labor department, they are understaffed,I have a case worker, says he will get my boss in for hearing, if he does not show he will issue warrant for arrest, this has been going on forever, owes me 552 hrs for work at 15.00 per hour, they tell me to be patient, can I have my boss aressted on my own, can I serve him, he is kind of a absentee employer, he owes my brother in law over 14 k which he bought the business from but never paid him

If you go to the district attorney, they will send you right backto the labor board. You could file a civil suit, but by the time you got to trial, the labor board will probably have taken care of the issue.

 

The only suit that might have some use would be for a writ of mandamus against the labor board. But, that would cost you as much as you're owed in legal fees.

 

So, you're stuck, I'm afraid. Can't think of any other avenue.
