I am replacing the heater core in a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am. Are there any tips to getting the tubes through the firewall?

Already Tried:
Chilton's manual. Instructions with replacement part. Local parts dealer. Free on-line sites. The hole in the fire wall seems to be too small for the larger connection point. Also the tubes don't seem to line up well.

Hmmm... If you are just having a hard time getting it through the foam insulator... don't worry about that, just push it through.. Otherwise, you may have the wrong one.. which would be obvious.. but in case, you aren't sure... here is a picture od how it is supposed to look:

I can assure you that there is no tricks or magic words that will make it go in. I have come across problems with heater core installations myself, and it is usually something to do with the replacement part not being exactly correct for the application. like the lines being at a different angle, or put on the heater core backwards... YES, it is possible, and does happen.
