Question

2001 Bonneville passenger front window intermittently would not work for a while. Now all electrical components of door do not work (power lock, mirror, power window) to the point that the interior light doesn't even come on when I open the door. Is this a problem you've heard before? any advice? We have taken the door panel off and cannot prove that electricity is getting to the module in the door.

Optional Information

2001 Pontiac Bonneville v6

Already Tried:
removed front passenger door panel. checked power coming to the door. If I did that right we cannot find any power coming to the door. I'm assuming there should be constant power to the door. There doesn't seem to be a fuse for this in the fuse box.

Accepted Answer

This does sound as though it is a passenger side door module failure. To verify that you have power to this module, I would recommend testing the two all orange wires at the module. These would be terminals 11, and A. You should also verify that you have a good ground at terminals 4,14, and D at the door module connector. If this all checks out, you are going to need to do some testing with a class 2 scan tool that can read and watch body type operations. These tools are the $3000.00+ units like the pros use. Feel free to contact me with any questions or problems! Good luck!

That was very helpful. We do have power to the module via the orange wires. All evidence points to the module. Thanks for your help.

Answer

I agree with you then. These newer cars have removed the simple wire testing as you can see. Thanks for the accept and for using justanswer.com!

With your help, we were able to prove that power is getting to the door. The ground that you suggested all seem to be in tact and secure. Looks like the module is bad. Thanks very much for your help.

Yes these can cause for some pretty strange problems. This type of system is used in many of todays new cars. It is making simple diagnostics a thing of the past. Thanks again!
