Question

i have a 1995 s-10 blazer. it will not start in the morning unless you spray carb cleaner into air intake. then it will run all day. it has a 4.3 liter vortex engine with 136, 000 on it. it just recently passed inspection in new jersey for emissions evn though the cat rattles. my mechanic has replaced the fuel line, the fuel pump, the map sensor, the egr valve, the engine block temp sensor, the ignition and spark plug wires and the spider and the primary coil wire. he checked out the primary coil and said it is fine. when it runs it runs great. battery is good. it cranks strong.   please help us

Did he replace the fuel pressure regulator while he had the upper plenum off for the spider?

yes. my mechanis said it was part of the spider assembly

You will need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and let it sit to see if the fuel pressure is bleeding off

my mechanis said its getting 48 pounds of fuel pressure and doesn't bleed off

Answer

The fuel pressure is to low on your vehicle it should be 58-64 lbs key on engine off. The pump is either bad or the wrong one for your vehicle.

did not work better after the first fuel pump replacement so my mechanic replaced it again. the parts store said they had the returned pump tested and it was working fine

Answer

The pressure is the problem you do not have enough fuel pressure. It does not matter how many times it is replaced if you install the incorrect part. Try a GM pump they look it up by vin you will get the right part.

answer did not help. my mechanic replaced the fuel pump with a gm fuel pump matched by vin #. same problem. finally gave in and took car to chevy dealer. ended up being crankshaft positioner sensor.
