Question

I am on probation for making a false police statement in the state of michigan. I received a letter from the state of ohio for : property abatement, a misdemeanor that i must go in front of the judge for. The judge has stated that if I take care of the problems of the property he will just give me fines/costs. I will still be guilty of the property abatement. Will this lead to a violation of probation in michigan. I have had people tell me no because it is a property issue and not criminal. I have had people tell me yes. What are your thoughts, experiences.

If you are charged with a crime in Ohio, that could count as a violation of probation in Michigan. The terms of probation usually require people to "obey all laws" and it does not matter of you are convicted of a new offence to be guity of violating probation.
It would help to resolve the Ohio situation in a way that does not involve a conviction, but even doing that will not necessarily prevent Michigan from claiming that you violated probation. IMHO.
