Question

I work at a hotel and work 11pm to 7am, my boss has allowed me to bring my pomeranian to work with me, as long as there are no complaints. After 3 months there has been two complaints. tonight actually. Here is my problem. Either bring him to work and leave him in the car and periodically let him out, muzzle him, or leave him home alone for 10 hours, five nights per week.

Optional Information

Age: 4; Male; Breed: pomeranian

Already Tried:
trying to stop him from barking, which will work after the initial bark, or if I see the people before he barks, he will maybe quietly growl.

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXX,

Many owners leave their dogs home alone for long periods of time while they are at work with no ill affects. It might even be easier since it is night time and the dog may sleep for a large portion of the time that you are gone.

However, if barking is the issue at work, you could try a citronella spray collar, or shock bark collars (I personally am against shock collars) and even shaking a can of coins that will stop excessive barking. I would not leave a dog in a car for that long a period of time even at night. It would be too large for your dog to keep adequately warm if the temperature was cold outside and many states now have laws concerning leaving dogs in cars even for short periods of time.

I hope this information is helpful to you.
