Optional Information

Age: <1; Male; Breed: Bull Terrier

Already Tried:
Rimadyl from my vet. But it is still bothering him. If you touch his leg he bites at you and normally he is as gentle as can be. It is very hard to keep him completely inactive, but we have been do a pretty good job at it. We do have another dog. A 2yr old Choc lab. This makes it a bit harder because they want to play but we stay after them to stop.

Answer

For the most part all that is needed for a sprain is rest and pain management like the anti inflammatory that he is already taking. If he will allow it a cold compresses alternated with a warm compress for 15 minutes for each can also help. Sprains take about 6 weeks to heal in total but usually pups seem to get over it faster. If you feel he is not improving at all then I would suggest repeating the xrays to be sure that there is no fracture.
