Question

Hello, I bought a 2007 boston whaler 131/2 ft boat with a 2007 mercury 40 hp 4-stroke outboard motor I try to do all winterization on it my self only question I have is how do I fog the motor so fog gets in the cylinders can I do it without takeing out the spark plugs?   I have a yamaha 4-stroke outboard motor that has what they call a Air intake Horn I can spray the fog into till motor stalls does my Mercury have this and I just can not find it ? Help

Being that this motor is fuel injected and has a single throttle body feeding four cylinders thru a common plentum into four intake runners, it would be very hard to fog it thru the intake, most of the oil would not make it to the cylinders and collect in the plentum. So the best option would be to remove the spark plugs and spray the oil into the cylinders and spin the motor over to distribute the oil to the cylinder walls, I would do it with plugs removed to prevent hydrolocking and possible engine damage, put a rag or towl over the holes and spin it over just a little, and reinstall plugs.
