Question

I was married for 33 yrs. and after my husband passed away, I began a relationship with my old high school sweetheart. We had intercourse 2-3 times a month for about a year. After he moved into my home, all romantic occasions stopped. He tried a couple of times and gave up. We were married in January and he attempted to make love once in March. About 6 weeks later I notice a blister like sore in my pubic area. some redness, a some itch. It then disappeared. I suspected that is was vaginal herpies. I've been too embarrassed to talk this over with our family doctor. I had another outbreak of a small blister like sore inside the labia last week. It lasted for several days with some itching. I'm not sure what to do. I've never had intercourse with anyone other than my late husband and now my new husband. He has been married and divorced several times. When I do get theses outbreaks, I feel very angry and depressed. I'm 59, I had a partial Hysterectomy.

It does sound like herpes, but I do think it would be worth it to have your doctor look at the area to make sure that is what it is. You should not be ashamed as 20% of the population has genital herpes! Your doctor will be able to help you. There are medications that you can take on a daily basis to keep you from having outbreaks.

I am sorry you have been through so much and hopefully you will feel better soon.
