I just became aware of this through a Health Risk Assessment done by my Employer Insurance Carrier. I have never had problems with my health other than seasonal allergies and ovarian cysts.

Was this the only lab that was elevated?
Do you have the number/level of the GGT?
Answer
Well, if this was the only test that was elevated, it could be a sign of a liver condition.
Of course, this depends on the degree of elevation. If it was just a couple of points outside the norm -- that is a lot different than saying it was triple the amount of normal.
Regardless, the test can be a sign of injury to the liver or bile ducts (since that is where this GGT is produced).
But realize that even drinking alcohol, or taking medications such as aspirin or advil, antibiotics, statin drugs for cholesterol, and other medications can also cause a mild elevation.
So even if the test were slightly elevated, this may be inconsequential. Your own doctor may want to repeat it just to make sure there isn't anything to worry about.
